Healthy mummy: My Post-Natal Confinement Care Package

I’ve always had some fuzzy knowledge that new mummies are supposed to take some herbal supplements during confinement to ensure that they regain their health and prevent ‘female’ problems down the road. The information from various websites on what to eat/drink are so confusing and disjointed though.

So when I found out about the “Post-Natal Care Package” from Eu Yan Sang (EYS) Malaysia (not available in Singapore, I dunno why) that’s supposed to “provide you with the key requirements for tonification during confinement”, I thought it was a godsend.  The MYR599 package consists of:

  • Sheng Hua Soup (1 pack)EYS
  • Gold Label Pak Foong Pill (1 box)
  • So Hup Pill (2 boxes)
  • Du Zhong Bu Yao Soup / Kidney Tonic Soup (2 packs)
  • Shi Quan Da Bu Soup / Energising Tonic Soup (2 packs)
  • Ba Zhen Soup / Longevity Tonic Soup (2 packs)
  • Dang Gui Nan Zao Nourishing Soup (4 packs)
  • Dangshen & Red Dates Qi Nourishing Tea (15 packs)

Realised that some of these are sold in EYS Singapore too (e.g. the pills and some of the soups with the “english translated names”), but the packaging looks different and I’m not sure if the ingredients/composition is different too.

According to the website, the package is supposed to:

  • To clear lochia, circulates blood and removes clotting.
  • Tonifies qi and blood.
  • Dispels wind and coldness.
  • Strengthens tendons and bones.

Anyway when I found out about this I figured that it saves me the trouble of researching what to take or “bu” during confinement and EYS is a trusted brand so yeah, why not.

Recently I finally took out the chart given by the store to guide how to take the herbs and it is such a scarily long list! Anyway, thought it might be helpful to list it out chronologically by days here as a useful reference (for me definitely!):

Anyway think better just follow… keep reading that confinement is an important opportunity to improve your female health (the other being during menopause?), or else it could cause poor health if neglected.

EYS Malaysia also sells herbal bath for newborn and mummies that you can check out if you are interested. Links here:

Wonder why they are not sold in Singapore?

P.S. Not paid to endorse EYS. Just thought to share an interesting product/package from our neighbouring country that maybe not many Singaporean mummies know about.
